When we left the Salmon  Elks this morning I could see the concern in my co-pilots eyes about my

ploted coarse- its the shortest way. It was 200 miles of twisty turny narrow road over a 8000 ft summit

mt road as we followed this little stream down the valley , it turned into this ragging river from the still

melting snow. once down in the valley the banks were lined with kayakers and rafters  what a zoo !!!

The scenery was awsome even beats Lolo pass , there was a few tense moments I might have smelt

this not so plesant order from my co-pilots side !!

We rolled into Emmitt late this afternoon found a nice park, located her relatives had a good visit, got

a bit to eat, and I settled in with a good old whisky.

Our goalfor the day will be Pendelton  .I have done a pretty good job of avoiding casino's on the trip

but she's starting to get the shakes maybe a casino fix will help

We made it to the Nez Perce battle feild,what a great explanation of what happened that early

morning of 1879 almost makes a person ashamed to say you are a white american !!

made it to Salmon Elks over 93 very scenic drive I expect 75@ 21 will be the same on our way

to Emmitt Idaho.

 So the park we landed in last night up on a hill good veiw of the valley, clean, plenty of room to

park ,about 1:30 in the morning I was suddently woke up, the Hooter Vill was coming thru the

our bedroom, this went on about every hour till day lite then I guess they must parkem till the night.

As good as this place was it got a very bad reveiw from me.

Hard time staying awake took onethose energy drinks and rolled into Lolo RV park, got set up and was 

time to hit the old steak house,great dinner and super service, other places should follow these guys

program

Next stop Salmon Idaho Elks and the Nez Perce battle feild on the way .

Got a good start this morning but was held up by a nasty single car wreck about 80 miles from Bozeman.

The speedlimit is 80 mph 70 for trucks,I think most people run 90 and some are just crazy in and out of

traffic NO turn signals surprised there aren't more.

We rolled into town about 12:30 found the park OK and headed for the Museum of the Rockies we went

to the section with prehistoric times and early American history tool devlopment [cave man style ]very

well displayed!! but we got tired of walking  !! Found a Safeway  and restocked our supplys and topped

the car on fuel.

Our next stop will be Lolo Steak House $$$$$ found a park we could get into a few miles past the

steakhouse will have to back track to get on 93 to Salmon Idaho Elks most of the small town Elks

we had hoped to stay have CLOSED  and the RV parks have upped their prices from 40 to 80 dollars

and thats the cheap places

 On the road again rolled into Billings ,found our camping spot without a problem [??] yesterday we had

hard time GPS was going crazy finally had to call the RV park.Left the tow car at park and headed into the

big town had good directions and the GPS even agreed Found the glass shop got us in early and gone

in 30 minutes  ????? Heading for Bozeman in the morning and the museum of the Rockies hope to do that

 in the afternoon.The next day will be a long haul !!

We rolled out of Fort Peck this morning made it to Glendive museum [ very good ] so we heade on into

miles city hit another museum and found a place to stay at a KOA  [not my favorite place to stay ]

over priced for a place to rest and regroup.

In the morning will head to Billings to get co-pilot winddshield fixed I did buy her a pair of safety

glasses if they can't save it [ Red Baron style ]

 Well, we got woke up early today when they were unrolling the streets of Havre, however we were

able to solve the generator not running problem before we left this = = = = town  sometimes thing are

so simple if you just sleep on it.

The East part of 2 really needs some work, when we got to Fort Peck  and got parked my co-pilot

wanted to watch some program but the SAT. wouldn't work !!!  The handy mans job is never done.

In the morning we are off to Glendive Mt

We are in Havre Mt good drive across sure picked a good time every thing is still nice and green

Arriving here could not get in Elks spot to big, found a place to dry camp, had generator running

and up and quit and the refrigerator wasn't real cold did get the ref. but not the generator something

to sleep on I guess. Get out of this town and try to find some parts !!!

Well, if the person planing this trip was better at math we would be 300 miles farther down the road BUT

we wouldn't have got to eat at the resturant with the back door to another resturant in the same old building,last night we ate in the front resturant [ I don't know how they stay open ] tonight we ate

at the back door besides being out of half of what was on the menu [Fri nite ] the food was better than

the front joint ????

In  the morning we will head east on 2 thru Shelby to Havre Mt fair grounds  I think there are some things their Mom wants to see !!

Today we are at Hungry Horse, we had booked 2 nights and really needed just one as I thought we had

farther to drive but really  didn't ,so much for my math !! Very Impressive at 564 feet tall one of the tallest

dams in the US. The main construction was started in 1948 and finished in 1954 it produces power but its

main purpose is flood control down in the lower valley .We drove across the dam and checked out some

of the many camp spots the state provides for a small fee unlike WASHINGTON  !!! The states whole

road system is in far better than ours and their gas is  75 cents cheaper !!

Today we toured the little -big city of Polson Mt  found the museum of musems, owned by a 86 year old

man thats still buying stuff,if it was ever made it was there!!! We finally got tired of walking on the uneven  roads. This place must be atleast 2-3 acres.

If you are hungry most eaterys close at 4  except for the burger shop, strange place

In the morning we head for Hungry Horse to check out the dam and surrounding area

 No more leaving early [ bad luck ] rolling out of the Elks 8 straight up got fuel but  the butt heads won't

sell propane till 10 for some reason. Made it to Sandpoint found 200 without any problem the first is

narrow and twisty from Noxon it oppened up into a lush green valley and good road right into Polson.

Will check things out in town, find the museums. The next day we are off to the big city of Hungry horse

to check out the dam!! one of the tallest in the good old USA

 This is the first day of our BIG Montana trip hoped  to get out of town by 10 this morning and

we were rolling out the drive by 9:15 and this worries me [what did we forget] BAD LUCK]

We hadn't gone a mile and the new tow car brake system was locking up the brakes on the tow car

was able to solve the problem without going back, out on the freeway rolling along now a low tire

monitor is gong off one of my new traded tires,got off the road,tire looks OK remove monitor and

put in fix later box! We have made it up to Randle now, tire alarm going off and I see what left of

a tire flying thru the air just misses the car behind me windshield [blowout] GREAT

Was able to find a tire shop in Randle that had 4 new tires to replace my newly  traded not so good

deal tires but the wheels were alot nicer haha Moral of the story DON'T leave early !!!!

Today we went out to hookup with a old hot rod buddy that we hadn't heard from for awhile,doesn't

answer  his phone and thats not a good sign. Found his place, looked  run down. doesn't answer his

door, not lookig good. Went to the neighbors house,must have woke him up,not real friendly but

did find out Tom had just passed away and his adopted neice was in the process of finalizing things.

In the morning we are headed out to Poison Mt a long haul but will spend a couple days there.  and

off to Hungry Horse if we can find a place to park
