Well
We was hoping for cooler weather when we got home, like maybe[rain]even
would be better than the high 90's. We had a great time, made some new friends
and  some new ideas for next year.!!!! The Other Woman did pretty good considering
what she went thru and will get some TLC before she has  to go out again.

OK
I am going to back up just a little, I am always giving my co-pilot a bad time about
Casino's but she paid for part of trip last nite about 2800 green ones, maybe I will
start looking for casino's instead of finding roads around them !!!!!!
Today we made it as far as Cottage grove, was told our RV wasn't nice enough and
to old for their park which was in need of repairs its self, so we waved good by
and found a nicer & cheaper place up the road.
I like looking for old ghost towns and I knew Bohemia city was near, so off we went
maps in hand and a tank of gas up the row river we found the town of Dorena established
in 1896 but was flooded and had to be moved in 1946 when a damn was built in 1949
to create Dorena lake but that little country school is still in use up to 8th grade.We
missed a turn and ended up at fairview lookout at 5933 ft what a view and you can
rent it by the night { what a honey moon spot] she could really say she was in the
clouds] built in 1920 and some 50ft high  OK back to the old town I found where
I went wrong, good thing its dry, a 4 wheel drive show about a mile of thats a long
ways down, can we get out of here etc we arrived at Bohemia city with a very well
built old store still standing, the Musick mine shaft was sealed off with a large
tailing pile out front with the mine cart tracks in need of repair but the shaft must
have been fairly long and misc mining stuff still there. would like to spend more
time there but its getting late wouldn't want to drive out in the dark without a set
of ear plugs
The Other Woman told me she is tied of this heat and is going to dump me if we
can't find a cooler place to hang out, homeward bound

Today we did something we haven't did for a long time [keep it clean] get up
before daylight, grab a bite and head off for the early Shasta Damn tour. which
worked out great, a private tour, I could hear what the lady had to say, I don't
remember what she said  but thats beside the point. The tour starts, half way
across the damn, a body search for bombs and etc, then you get on a elevator
and drop 600 and some feet {FORGOT} right to bottom of the damn which
is 883 feet  thick, with almost 7 million cubic yards of concrete, 5 generators
capable of producing 710 megawatts and making it the largest reservoir in
Calif. but the second largest [ mass] damn  in the united states, with washington
having the largest [mass] damn  -----  -----  Hoover is taller but has half the
amount of concrete   GREAT    TOUR
OK the heat has won ,had a few more things on my to do list but I found a
sharp stick  started poking the OTHER WOMAN fed her breakfast [Diesel]
and hit the HAUL  ASS button for a cooler place and with the help of my
co-pilot we ended up  at  [you guessed it]  7 feathers casino, I had found a
short by pass road but she caught that, she is like a damn homing pigeon  to
CASINO"S

The Other Woman and day 20

Today we said  our fairwells to people we met at the park and more than likely
never see again. I woke up the other woman and had her move us a few miles
down the road which she did very willingly . As we were pulling into the Redding
Elks my co-pilot spotted  one of our friends boat in the lot, its a small world.
We had to pickup the last of our booze order over at the Booze Barn so they
rode along and got some fire water for themselves out at the lake.
So on one of our trips we had ate at a  Sonic's drive in but have been looking
for another one to settle a minor disagreement with the co- pilot as which had
a better burger  IN &  OUT  or  Sonic's  I win  IN & OUT

Pretty quiet day, just sorta hung out and told a few lies, picked up most
of our stuff getting ready to head out for the not yet decided destination .
One of our friends here for the races seem s to be having a medicial
problem so her husband is looking for a place to get her checked out
in the morning .
The races are over for the year and they were probably the best  they
have been for a few years, lots of action, with very little machenery
torn up

Pretty quiet day, panned out my 5 gal bucket of rocks hoping for a gold nugget
but I did get some black sand witch generally found with fine gold.
Since we have been coming to this ELKS park we have never it full,and this
has created a problem with the warm weather every body wants to run all
their air conditioners ,not enough power ,1 trailer at the of the block ruined his
air conditioner and had to have a new one installed. Our new power management
system quit working and shut off all our power, so I had to wire around it to get
some power, but don,t want to take a chance and ruin a air conditioner  without
the systems protection from low voltage warning and shut down.
The car count for the races is still way down, 10 years ago their was as high as
132 cars,this year about 62 cars but still put on a great show

Hi there
Today we took a little road trip up Butte canyon to a old school house turned
into a museum ,that should have been open but was closed for some reason.
OK we are way up at the end of a dead end canyon now my Miners map shows
a old wagon road up to the town of Paradise where I would like to go to a
junk store that I had once visited, now  this canyon has steep rock walls, with
Paradise about 2000 ft above us I found this old road at the end of a county road
with a sign that said[ travel at your own risk ] that should have been a clue but I
charged right up that thing  with my old Jeep and 4 wheel drive it kept getting
steeper, sharper corners with NARROW switch backs ,no place to safely turn
a round,pedal to the metal dust and rocks flying I spotted a building at last as
I pulled up in front it was a damn casino but I had a different Co-Pilot this trip
and didn't have to stop.After that little trip it was time for another IN & OUT
burger an d head to the races which have been very good so far.

Well
Today has been  a true retired persons day, get up, have breakfast, find somebody
in the park that wants to BS a wee bit, take the girls shopping, buy a couple extra
in & out burgers to sneak in the races tonight because they are so proud of thier
burgers. Hide the burgers in  my co-pilots bag and see if she gets in ok, I sure
would hate to explain  how those burgers got in my bag.
Tonight was the 1st of  4 nights of races with the 360's and Uni-sac cars[ wingless
sprint] cars the 410's run FRI-SAT night

The Other Woman and day 15

Well
Today we sorta gave ourselves a self guided tour of Chico, that sorta worked up
a little hunger so a Cost-Co dog sounded good and we had to finish our booze
run list ,as they were closed yesterday. Got the booze and my 2 dogs, was standing
in the condiment line, got 1 done started on my 2nd and this old guy [maybe 80]
just sorta pushed me out of the way, OK I have stood in this line for 5 minutes
as everybody else cause the 2nd condiment line had some problem. SO being
the nice guy I am, I politely told the guy if he didn't let me finish my dog he would
be wearing  this hot dog and go to the back of the line like I started, he said something
and walked off without his [condiments ]. OLD PEOPLE
So we got back to the Elks just as our friends rolled in with their new to them Beaver
coach, they had stopped at the factory to have some problems taken care  of  1 was
with the black water holding tank valve motor and some other electric problems OK
this was 3 days ago,as they rolled in I saw the black safety cap swing on the chain' but
when he went to  dump  the tanks, the switch must have shorted opened the valve
somewhere along the way and blew a fuse and yes dumped the black tank.
OK now we are going to unload the car from the trailer, loosen the back tie downs
he starts the car to pull it ahead to unhook the front strap, gets out of thecar, door
closes, car running,door locks , can't find spare key WHAT A DAY

The Other Woman and day 14

Well the dilema of the day, I had a propane tank that was empty so I
thought , well I will just go get it filled up,[wrong]  well I just bought these
tanks a few years ago [wrong] try 11 and they need to be recertified at 10
years,after a couple failed attempts up town I rolled down to the other part
of town with my little buddy Mr. Ruger and got it filled no problem.Sure is
easy to waste away the day!!!!!!

Today I spent part of the morning  cleaning the old jeep after our dirt road
adventure, if I would of sprayed a little water on the jeep I could of made
MUD balls, I haven't processed the concentrates I dug up yesterday yet.
Hell,I might have a flake of gold in those buckets.
This afternoon we drove up on Cohassett ridge to a old old junk store with
fair prices, found a real nice skill saw with a high dollar blade and several
other things for 35 green ones ,  NOT A BAD DAY
 With  the day being a bit cooler and  2 minutes of rain, yes rain it wasn't a
bad day a all

Today we went prospecting, but maybe should have just went to a casino.
To start with I made a wrong turn and we went way out of our way. Then
the directions to the claim wern't the best and the area once we found
it wasn't any better than the direction . The drive up the Feather River
Canyon was very interesting and the engineering to get the R/R up
there was quite a feat. the highway is on one side of the canyon and
the R/R on the other with 4 hydro electric damns  on a narrow canyon.

Today didn't go quite as planned, the prospecting turned into rock hounding,
booze run and another casino, she was sleeping up until  the time we were
getting close to the big bill board say casino ahead.

Today I had to do a little bartering with my co-pilot, I had wanted to do a little
gold prospecting tommor but it really helps if she feeds the material into the
sluice  while I dig it out BUT for her help I had to take her to the CASINO today
{she is getting ruthless in her old age }

Today we did a day  trip up to the Lassen  volcanoes just out of Redding, started up there
once  on a porker run with the street rod many years ago, but got snowed out. Calif
has spent some big bucks on this place  and it is still alive with boiling spring lake ,hot
springs and sulphur vents on the S side, about the size of mount St Helens but differs
because in its 600,000years its been 4 different types of volcanio which is rare but it
is also one of the worlds largest plug dome type volcanoes [don't remember the other
3 type ] last eruption May 22 1915 had a little lunch up on the mountain and ended up
in Redding town at the Whiskey Barn getting prices on booze for my drinking friends.
The Other Woman will be a booze hauler when we head home

Pretty lazy day today, got the car washed and repaired my air throttle control
valve and a trip up town at 4:30 was the high lite of the day !!!!!!!

Day 7 and the Other Woman

Well they say what goes up must go down !! thats  what we did from Likely to old 99 and
Red bluff alot of 3rd gear and the jake  to save the brakes, going up from Pentilton side
was a lot of 3rd gear all the corners are to sharp to go any faster. So this had to be one
of my dumbest ideas for awhile but we did see some different ground but  I think we will
stick to I 5 or 97 from now on. We got  into the ELKS this afternoon was able to get the
last spot with 50 amp service we had decided to come in a few days earily because of the
holiday this will give the Other Woman a few more days to rest up just some day trips
in the old Jeep

Day 6 with the Other Woman & my co-pilotToday

Today we had pretty flat going, high desert long and straight just let it roll and we
rolled right into the town of Likely Calif and where are we staying ?? Likely RV
park. Just took it easy later in the day a couple we met in John Day rolled in and
had a good visit with them found out they were headed to Chico also
I think the Susanville casino will be our next stop.

The other woman and day 5

Well, The Other Woman was a perfect lady today, had some pretty good grades getting
into Burns. Found a nice RV park and let the old girl rest again and thats not my
co-pilot I am talking about.Burns has a great little museum where we wasted a couple
hours.From there to the Elks lodge for our free BEER, always a good place to get info
from the locals about things of interest. So off to CRANE city, population 150, not a
very well kept city !!! next was Diamond with the original hotel built in 1899 still
operating. We went in at looked at the rooms [nicely done] they even serve dinner
with reservations and breakfast comes with room. The last stop was a round barn
100 ft' in diameter with a inner stone wall 9ft' high and 60ft in diameter the stones had
to be hauled 8miles, the building was used for training horses in the winter and there
wasn't a sign of any other old buildings as far as the eye could see just a lone building
in the middle of no where  ?????

The Other Woman day 4

Today we let the [other woman rest] and headed out to the John day fossil beds to check
out life 45 million years ago this was at the Sheep rocks unit along with the new
Thomas Condon {not condom} Paleontology center, with people setting in sealed rooms
picking dirt of some fossil using a million dollar scope way over the edge and we wonder
where some of the funds go. The Cant historic ranch house just up the road was done on
a realistic budget. From there we headed to the Grant county museum they covered the
gold rush memorabillia, early pioneers daily lives, even the skulls of the first 2 men hung
in grant county great little museum. Saved the best for last The DeWitt museum and the
Sumpter Valley railroad with lots of pictures of old train wrecks and related memorabilla
even the old safe some robbers to blow up with 25 sticks of dynamite only to blow the whole
roof off the building and didn't get the gold inside

The other woman and day 3
Well, the day started pretty darn good but went down hill from there, this 395 is a
beautiful drive but hard climb with 90 degree + weather my fan drive has been
getting so warm its pushing oil out the vent. Then my co-pilot kept asking what
that noise is, finally when it got to the point of a loud whistle I could even hear
it, throttle valve seal leaking air, found a good spot for a little road side repair,
a few oh darns and dog gone its we  were back on the road again. Then when we
got to the park and went to plug in our EMS system code said low voltage on
line 2 OK check the box good, found lose wire on my plug, fixed that, then
system said replace surge, SCREW IT and wired around the damn thing
Time for a drink or 2 and get ready for the next day

Day 2 and the other woman is still moving along !! Got to the casino in Pendliton about
midday. My co-pilot was gone soon as the bus stopped rolling with player card in hand.
She did reappeared about 6ish to buy me dinner with her winnings only to leave me again
while I finished my ice cream cone and wonder how I was getting back to the bus. She
was lost in the casino smoke and it was a good thing I had on walking shoes !! yep I walked
a 1/2 mile back to the bus and thats the whole story  without the real facts.
The fire at the dalles jumped the fire line and spreading but smoke hasn't been a problem
for us so far.
Will top off on fuel in the morning, find  395 and start heading S and into a unknown area
for us

The OTHER WOMAN on the move again
Got out on time, stopped by the old work place just to rub retirement in to the few guys left.
Bus is doing good, having problems with ref. not switching over to gas have to do it manual
We are at the Deschutes state campground just out of  The Dalles nice little park but millions
of little bugs are Getting in the bus thru the fine window screens and it is a wee bit warm. So
my co-pilot is not in the best of mood. Will try to get her to a CASINO to make things better
