Day 41 --- The Other Woman On The Move

211 miles later put us in W Denver after a little back  track.
We had called a Elks lodge yesterday about a camping spot
the lady said no problem, so when we drove in they had no
over nite parking or camping signs . So we had to back
track about 18 miles to another campground, which put us
closer to the different places we wanted to go.
We are a bit concerned about a chance of snow tomorrow
and the next day and the way we are headed toward Utah
and Moab is mountains.

Day 40 --- The Other Woman On The Move

Today we are leaving Salina Kansas in the rear view mirror,
before leaving I was talking to one of the locals and his
advise to us was wait another day the wind on 70 will be
nasty today. Well that old man was right, some of the
worst winds we have ever been in and then it happened
the bus just shook, my co-pilot screamed, the windsheild
its coming out , it was like we got shot with a air canon
and the right side windshield was half way out just the
wiper blade holding it. That was my new windshield we
just got put in from rock damage.  Oh Darn , I got it back
in the best we could and got out some of that racers tape
for insurance!!!
We only run 337 miles today but it seemed like 600 , seen
a UPS trailer in front of us almost go over looked like 2ft
of air under the left rear tire, and a semi that wasn't so
lucky laying on its side just before we crossed into CO
I told my co pilot if we had lost that windshield I would
have just bought her a pair of goggles and continued on
but she didn't much care for that idea !!!

Day 39 --The Other Woman On The Move

The Other Woman got a break today and some TLC,
she had developed a oil leak on the drop box input.
It seemed to be getting worse, and we still have a few
more miles to go . My mechanic hands were looking

more like doctor hands so I combined the 2 trades
and did some surgery of my own , and just like the
doctor no guarantee and come back in 2 weeks !!!!

Day 38 -- The Other Woman On The Move

Today was a great low key day ,good roads, nobody
trying to park in your trunk while your going down the
road at 75 miles, and a very interesting underground
salt museum tour and there was only 3 of us on the
tour and no screaming kids and the people giving the
tour you could understand.
This particular salt deposit, seems to average about 9
to 12 ft  ceilings, with rooms about 80 x 80 with
dividers , so it would be like a waffle iron from a aeral
view, these rooms go for miles. The older part of the
mine they have turned into underground storage for
important papers and artifacts from many famous
movies ,about 175 acres and expanding. The salt is
used mainly for road salt and animal salt licks, now
Mortan salts has a site closer to New Mexico that the
salt is a higher grade and used for human consumption .

Day 37 -- The Other Woman On The Move

Well today I put on my big boy pants and left St Louis with
no plan of ever returning, the road were horrible and the
people wern't much better, we run 496 miles with bad cross
&head winds , I have developed some slack in my steering
from those roads and makes it that much harder to stay in
your lane, along with a dropbox seal leaking , had to add oil
this morning before we left.
Kansas seems to take pride in their road systems anyway so
far, we ended up in Salina tonight this was our 3rd choise
1 was full , 2 was closed and 3 was out in the sticks and it
was dark coming in with poor signage and when it gets daylite
I might want to leave, just because.
Tomorrow we are headed to the Kansas underground salt
museum, 650 ft underground and part of the area is used to
store neat stuff !!!!!!!
Oh I forgot to mention yesterday at the Arch, my co-pilot
failed the security check, got pulled aside for a strip search,
but I didn't rub it in to much but I think she might have
liked it...

Day 36 --The Other Woman On The Move

Today we went to see the Gate Way Arch called ahead
and got our Tickets, good to go I thought , till we got in
sight of the Arch, only  1 side running and the line must
be a 1/4 mile long , O Darn, we find out its Spring break
for the kids in the area and it doesn't make a shit what
time your tickets says you must go thru security check
first and { they take there mary ass time } you must
empty all your pockets, coats and heavy shirts and even
take off your belt . So by the time you get your tickets
with you assigned time, the people that just walked in
and got their tickets are going up the tram already. So
once you get up to the top of the Arch 630 ft its the same
old thing people get to the windows and just stay there
taking pictures and  owing & awing so I have learned
how to be quite rude and to put the icing on the cake they
have these colored folks you can't begin to understand
telling a people what to do next.
The arch sets along the Mississippi river with very well
kept grounds, we never did find where you were suppose
to park for the Arch , because of road work and ended up
walking quite  a long ways.
Next stop Budwiser Tour same thing lots of people BUT
they did have White people you can understand and don't
treat you like a dumb ass when you ask what they said 2or 3
times . GREAT tour and amazing building.

Day 35 ---The Other Woman On The Move

Today we are in Indianapolis about a mile from the speedway,
left The Other Woman in St Louis. This morning when we
went to get our big motel breakfast the ground was white, that
was a surprise. So we had signed up for a 9:30 tour at the
speedway. which was a 1-1/2\hour ground tour with 1 lap
around the track.[Good tour ]
We was about half way to Brookville Ohio where my 32 parts
were, still snowing off & on and 28 degree's made for a long
trip but I was determinded and came a long way for these damn
parts.

Day 34 --- The Other Woman On The Move

Today was one of those days that could have started
better, after breakfast we thought it might be a good
idea to call and check with Brookville Roadster that the
parts were ready, when we ordered the parts they said
to allow 4 weeks we gave them 6 , so when my co-pilot
called and gave the build # the lady said it was not done
yet by her paper work but would check[ Oh Darn ]
So as I go outside, talking to myself going toward the back
of the bus I see antifreeze under the radiator  [Oh Darn]
atleast its from the generator and not the main radiator.
So I will deal with that later.
Next I wanted to check my secondary door locks on the
lower cargo bay doors just in case they call back and say
the parts are ready to pick up. So I have my dear co-pilot
flip the switch and locks the door . Great they locked, now
open them [nothing] to my co-pilot open the damn doors,
reply I 'm trying , well another [ Oh Darn ] because the tools
I need to get to the valves , Yep , locked in the cargo bay.
another [ Oh Darn ] nobody here at the ELks yet that might
have some allen wrenches , so off to town to get some allen
wrenches so I can get the panel off to get to the air valves
While up town I did get good news the parts were ready for
pickup and I fixed the door lock problem. So off we went
to find our way to Ohio or get lost.
