And the 23rd Day No grass under bus just air

Up early(for us) and off, fueled and headed for Pierre SD.  Hoped to do the Dam tour..
Oahe Dam that is.  But found out we were to early.  My choice of roads to cross SD
was not a good choice. We weren't 1/4 mile into SD & co-pilot windshield got broke
by passing truck. Parts of this road are more like a wagon road. Coming into Pierre,
they had signs out for trucks with wide loads to exit but nothing about height restrictions.
So I continued and about 5 miles down the road was a 11'6" clearance.  Well I'm not
real good at math but I do know 12'6" won't fit without a good run at it.  So back to
the wide load detour (looked at sign again on way by but nothing about height limits).
Then on to construction with poor signage for road changes because of construction.
The short time we had been in SD was way to long. Horrible cross winds; had to stop
and tie left side awning to the bus to keep it in.  With a 60 mile speed limit for trucks
and buses but no warning signs for big pot holes & launching ramps.  I know for sure
one time the whole bus had to be in flight.  CDs & junk came out of the upper cabinet
on my head and that's never happened before.
So after 497 miles, we are in Neb.  So far good roads & signage that I can understand.
Goodbye SD never to return.
Tidbits of information for your minds:   Lawrence Welk was born in Strasburg, ND(they
are proud of it...big signs)      Winner SD fuel stop for us claims they sold the $248 Million
Power Ball Ticket.     The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence..just

ask the cows.
