So today we took a little 160 mile drive to Scribner Neb so my Co-Pilot could visit
a long lost relative. The drive was just OK but the little town had some very interesting
old buildings. Seen some of the damage left over from the flooding last year when
Dakota Fred lost his house.
With the rain holding off that was forecast ,we decided to take a chance and drive out
to Eagle raceway, this was a 1st class , high banked 1/3 mile dirt track, very organized
getting the cars on & off the track 360 Sprints, modified , super modified.,street stocks
and mini stocks, probably 145 cars.great racing but the sky kept getting blacker. I told my
Co-Pilot when that old farmer setting down below us ,watching the sky leaves, we will be
right behind him. Sure enough just before the final race, he leaves, we follow , just get to
the car and all hell breaks loose , thunder & lightning ,the whole sky., rain drops the size
of golf balls, can't see the front of your car and that was our official welcome to Neb. &
we are going to say our good-by to Neb tomorrow (first thing) .
